About

About the Reformation Louisiana Conference

A four day gathering in Alexandria, Louisiana, held jointly by a Presbyterian church and a Reformed Baptist church for the good of the churches of this state.

What it is

The Reformation Louisiana Conference gathers Christians to consider how the Gospel recovered in the Protestant Reformation continues to strengthen Christian households, build up the church, and equip believers for faithful living.

Our mission is to strengthen Christian families, build up faithful churches, and equip believers to live and labor for the good of Louisiana under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

The conference is often shortened to Reformation LA, and both names refer to the same gathering. It is held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, in the middle of the state, which is a reasonable drive from most of Louisiana and from parts of East Texas and Mississippi.

Over four days together you can expect:

  • Preaching
  • Practical instruction
  • Prayer
  • Psalm singing
  • Shared meals
  • Fellowship

The full four day schedule lists every plenary, workshop, and meal.

Who hosts it

The conference is hosted jointly by two congregations in Alexandria. They come from two different streams of the Reformation, and they hold it together on purpose.

Where we stand

Grace Presbyterian Church holds the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. Christ Fellowship holds the 1689 London Baptist Confession. Those two confessions do not say the same thing, on baptism among other matters, and neither church pretends otherwise. What both confess in common is the Gospel the Reformers recovered: that Scripture alone is the final authority, that sinners are justified by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and that all of it is to the glory of God alone.

That common ground is wide enough to hold a conference on, and the conference is arranged accordingly. You do not have to be Presbyterian to come, and you do not have to be Baptist either. Christians from any congregation are welcome, and so are those who are still working out what they believe about any of this.
